Today's mechanic is evolve for the Simic. Unlike cipher, evolve is only on creatures. You can evolve when a creature enters the battlefield under your control that has a power of toughness greater then a creature with evolve. If this happens, you may put a +1/+1 counter on the creature with evolve. Every creature with evolve has a power of 2 or less except Adaptive Snapjaw which has a toughness of 2. For many of the creatures with evolve you can do things with these +1/+1 counters like Gyre Sage and Simic Manipulator.
