Favors from Nyx vs. Manipulative Monstrosities Game 4

I decided to make a new series to find the best Intro Deck for each release. This will help new players get the best Intro Deck for them if they want to play something like Friday Night Magic but do not know how to build a deck. What I did was put all the decks on MTG Deck Builder and then play tested them. I will play a best out of five series for each match up. In the end the deck that has the greatest percentage of victory will be the best. The first match up is Favors from Nyx and Manipulative Monstrosities.

Favors from Nyx drew an opening hand of 2 Swamp, Plains, Traveling Philosopher, Observant Alseid, Auramancer, and Vanquish the Foul and decided to keep it. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an opening hand of 2 Island, Shock, Magma Jet, Sea God’s Revenge, Crackling Triton, and Omenspeaker and decided to keep it. Manipulative Monstrosities won the roll and wanted to play second.

Turn 1:

Favors from Nyx played a Plains. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Rage of Purphoros and played an Island.

Turn 2:

Favors from Nyx drew a Plains and played a Swamp then cast Traveling Philosopher. Manipulative Monstrosities drew Lightning Strike and played an Island and cast Omenspeaker to Scry 2. Manipulative Monstrosities Scryed Ill-Tempered Cyclops and Griptide and put them on the bottom of the library.

Turn 3:

Favors from Nyx drew Heliod’s Emissary and played the Alseid as a creature. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Griptide.

Turn 4:

Favors from Nyx drew Pharika’s Cure and played a Swamp. Then, cast Heliod’s Emissary as a creature and attacked with the other creatures. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked Observant Alseid with Omenspeaker and took 2. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Stoneshock Giant and discarded Rage of Purphorous.

Turn 5:

Favors from Nyx drew and played a Swamp then attacked with all creatures. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked the Alseid with Omenspeaker. Favors from Nyx cast Pharika’s Cure on Omenspeaker. Manipulative Monstrosities drew and played an Island then cast Crackling Triton.

Turn 6:

Favors from Nyx drew Ordeal of Heliod and cast it on Heliod’s Emissary then attacked with all creatures. The ordeal put a +1/+1 counter on the Emissary. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked the Alseid with the Triton. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Island and played it then cast Griptide on Heliod’s Emissary.

Turn 7:

Favors from Nyx drew a Plains and played it then cast Heliod’s Emissary. Manipulative Monstrosities drew another Crackling Triton and cast it.

Turn 8:

Favors from Nyx drew a Swamp and cast Auramancer to get back the Ordeal and cast it on the Emissary. Then, attacked with only the Emissary and Manipulative Monstrosities blocked with a Triton. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Lightning Strike.

Turn 9:

Favors from Nyx drew a Swamp and played it then attacked with all creatures. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked the Emissary with the last Triton and took 4. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Omenspeaker and conceded.

Manipulative Monstrosities drew an opening hand of 2 Mountain, Ill-Tempered Cyclops, Coral Merfolk, Wall of Frost, Archaeomancer, and Water Servant and kept it. Favors from Nyx won the roll and decided to go first.

Turn 1:

Favors from Nyx played a Plains. Manipulative Monstrosities drew and played a Mountain.

Turn 2:

Favors from Nyx drew an Erebos’s Emissary and played a Swamp. Manipulative Monstrosities drew and played another Mountain.

Turn 3:

Favors from Nyx drew a Swamp and played it. Then, cast a Lagonna-Band Elder. Manipulative Monstrosities drew and played an Island then cast Coral Merfolk.

Turn 4:

Favors from Nyx drew a Vanquished the Foul and played a Plains. Then, Favors from Nyx cast an Erebos’s Emissary. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Shipbreaker Kraken and played a Mountain then cast the Ill-Tempered Cyclops.

Turn 5:

Favors from Nyx drew and played a Swamp. Then, cast Gift of Immortality onto Erebos’s Emissary and attacked. Manipulative Monstrosities didn’t block so Favors from Nyx discarded Pillarfield Ox to give Erebos’s Emissary +2/+2 and Manipulative Monstrosities took 5. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Island and played it then cast Wall of Frost.

Turn 6:

Favors from Nyx drew a Swamp and played it. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Burnished Hart and played a Mountain. Tapping all six lands Manipulative Monstrosities cast Shipbreaker Kraken.

Turn 7:

Favors from Nyx drew and cast a Plains then cast Vanquish the Foul on Shipbreaker Kraken. Favors from Nyx Scryed a Plains and put it on the bottom of the library. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Island and played it. Manipulative Monstrosities paid 6 mana to use Ill-Tempered Cyclops’s Monstrosity trigger and attacked with it. Favors from Nyx blocked it with Erebos’s Emissary. At the beginning of the End Step Gift of Immortality came back onto the Emissary.

Turn 8:

Favors from Nyx drew and played Vanquish the Foul on Ill-Tempered Cyclops. Favors from Nyx Scryed Traveling Philosopher and put it on the bottom of the library. Manipulative Monstrosities drew and played a Mountain then cast Burnished Hart and used its ability to search for a Mountain and an Island.

Turn 9:

Favors from Nyx drew and played a Plains then cast Pharika’s Cure on Coral Merfolk and attacked with both creatures. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked Erebos’s Emissary with Wall of Frost. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Stoneshock Giant and played it with Water Servant.

Turn 10:

Favors from Nyx drew and cast Lagonna-Band Elder to gain 3 life. Manipulative Monstrosities drew Lightning Strike and played 8 mana to make Stoneshock Giant monstrous. Manipulative Monstrosities payed 2 mana to use Water Servant’s ability twice to give him +2/-2. Manipulative Monstrosities then attacked with both creatures for a total of 13 damage. Favors from Nyx could not block because of Stoneshock Giant becoming monstrous.

Turn 11:

Favors from Nyx drew Ordeal of Erebos. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Ill-Tempered Cyclops and cast Lightning Strike on a Band Elder then cast Archaeomancer to get back Lightning Strike. Manipulative Monstrosities then cast Lightning Strike again to remove the other Band Elder. Manipulative Monstrosities attacked with both creatures giving Water Servant the same bonus as last turn with the last 2 mana. Favors from Nyx blocked Stoneshock Giant with Erebos’s Emissary and took 5 damage from the Servant. At the beginning of the End Step Gift of Immortality goes back to Erebos’s Emissary.

Turn 12:

Favors from Nyx drew a Plains and conceded.

Favors from Nyx drew a mulligan Hand of Plains, Swamp, Ordeal of Heliod, Erebos’s Emissary, Observant Alsieid, and Hopeful Eidolon. Favors from Nyx decided to keep it. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an opening hand of 2 Island, Mountain, Coral Merfolk, Shock, Disolve, Archaeomancer. Manipulative Monstrosities decided to keep it. Manipulative Monstrosities won the roll and decided to go first.

Turn 1:

Manipulative Monstrosities played a Mountain. Favors from Nyx drew a Traveling Philosopher and played a Plains and cast a Hopeful Eidolon.

Turn 2:

Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Volcanic Geyser and played a island then cast a Coral Merfolk. Favors from Nyx drew a Lagonna-Band Elder and played a Swamp and cast Ordeal of Heliod onto Hopeful Eidolon and attacked. Manipulative Monstrosities took 2 damage.

Turn 3:

Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Island and played it. Then, Shocked the Eidolon and attacked with the Merfolk. Favors from Nyx drew a Plains and played it. Favors from Nyx played Observant Alsieid.

Turn 4:

Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Mountain and played it then cast Archaeomancer to get back Shock. Manipulative Monstrosities then attacked with Coral Merfolk. Favors from Nyx took 2 damage. Favors from Nyx drew an Ordeal of Erebos and cast Lagonna-Band Elder to gain 3 life and attacked with Observant Alseid. Manipulative Monstrosities decided to take the 2 damage.

Turn 5:

Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Island and played it than Shocked the Alseid. Favors from Nyx drew Pharika’s Cure and cast Traveling Philosopher.

Turn 6:

Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Coral Merfolk and played an Island and cast the Coral Merfolk. Favors from Nyx drew a Plains and played it then cast Erebos’s Emissary.

Turn 7:

Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Island and played it. Favors from Nyx drew a Swamp and played it. Favors from Nyx attacked with all the creatures. Archaeomancer blocked Erebos’s Emissary but Favors from Nyx cast Phareka’s Cure to deal 2 damage to Archaeomancer and Manipulative Monstrosities cast Dissolve to counter Pharika’s Cure and Scry 1. Manipulative Monstrosities Scryed Stoneshock Giant and put it back on the top of the Library. Then Manipulative Monstrosities cast Disperse to put Erebos’s Emissary in Favors from Nyx’s hand. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked the other creatures with both of the Coral Merfolk

Turn 8:

Manipulative Monstrosities drew the Stoneshock Giant and cast it. Manipulative Monstrosities attacked with the Archaeomancer. Favors from Nyx drew a Plains and played it. Then cast Erebos’s Emissary and Ordeal of Erebos onto it.

Turn 9:

Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Magma Jet and then cast the Volcanic Geyser and cast it for five mana to kill the Emissary. Manipulative Monstrosities attacked with both of the creatures. Favors from Nyx drew and played a Plains.

Turn 10:

Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Shock and cast it with Magma Jet to Scry 2. Manipulative Monstrosities Scryed a Mountain and Island and put them on the bottom of the library. Manipulative Monstrosities attacked with both creatures for six damage. Favors from Nyx drew a Last Breath and conceded.

Favors from Nyx drew an opening hand of 2 Plains, 2 Swamp, Gift of Immortality, Auramancer, and Doom Blade and decides to keep it. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an opening hand of Island, Mountain, Magma Jet, Crackling Triton, Archaeomancer, Burnished Heart, and Shock and decided to keep it.

Turn 1:

Favors from Nyx went first and played a Swamp. Manipulative Monstrosities drew another Archaeomancer and played a Mountain.

Turn 2:

Favors from Nyx drew a Plains then played a Plains. Manipulative Monstrosities drew Lost in a Labyrinth and played an Island. Then Manipulative Monstrosities cast Magma Jet to deal 2 damage to Favors from Nyx. Manipulative Monstrosities Scryed an Island and an Ordeal of Purphoros than put both on top of the library with the Island above the Ordeal.

Turn 3:

Favors from Nyx drew a Hopeful Eidolon and played another Plains. Then cast the Eidolon as a creature. Manipulative Monstrosities Drew and cast the Island then cast a Burnished Heart.

Turn 4:

Favors from Nyx drew a Minotaur Abomination and played a second Swamp. Manipulative Monstrosities drew the Ordeal of Purphoros and used three mana to use Burnished Heart’s ability to search for an Island and a Mountain. Then Manipulative Monstrosities played a Mountain and Shocked Hopeful Eidolon.

Turn 5:

Favors from Nyx drew an Ordeal of Erebos and played a Plains. Than cast an Auramancer to return the Eidolon to the hand. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Island and cast an Island. Manipulative Monstrosities cast an Archaeomancer and returned the Magma Jet to the hand.

Turn 6:

Favors from Nyx drew and cast a Swamp than cast a Minotaur Abomination and attacked with Auramancer. Manipulative Monstrosities did not block and so took 2 life. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Omenspeaker and played an Island. Than Manipulative Monstrosities cast Magma Jet to kill the Auramancer and scryed a Mountain and an Island and put both on the bottom of the library. Manipulative Monstrosities then cast a second Archaeomancer to bring back Magma Jet.

Turn 7:

Favors from Nyx drew and cast a Swamp. Then cast Gift of Immortality and Ordeal of Erebos on Minotaur Abomination and attacked. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked with an Archaeomancer. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Lightning Strike. Then cast Crackling Triton and Omenspeaker to Scry 2 Islands and put one on top and one on bottom.

Turn 8:

Favors from Nyx drew Lagonna-Band Elder than cast Hopeful Eidolon as an enchantment onto Minotaur Abomination making it a 6/8 and attacked. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked with Omenspeaker but Favors from Nyx cast Doom Blade on it. Minotaur Abomination dealt 7 damage to Manipulative Monstrosities and gain 7 life because it has Lifelink from the Eidolon. Manipulative Monstrosities drew the Island and played it.

Turn 9:

Favors from Nyx drew a Plains and played it than cast Lagonna-Band Elder to gained 3 life. Favors from Nyx attacked with Minotaur Abomination to put the third +1/+1 on it and so sacrificed Ordeal of Erebos so Manipulative Monstrosities had to discard Lost in a Labyrinth and Ordeal of Purphoros. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked with the second Archeaomancer. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Ill-Tempered Cyclops and cast it.

Turn 10:

Favors from Nyx drew a Blightcaster than attacked with the 8/10 Minotaur. Manipulative Monstrosities took the eight damage. Manipulative Monstrosities cast Magma Jet and dealt 2 damage to Lagonna-Tribe Elder and Scryed a Mountain and Sea God’s Revenge. Manipulative Monstrosities put both on top but the Sea God’s Revenge was above the Mountain. Then Manipulative Monstrosities used the Cyclops’s ability to give it 3 +1/+1 counters and attack for 6.

Turn 11:

Favors from Nyx drew a Plains and played it then cast Blightcaster and attacked with the Abomination. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked with Crackling Triton. Manipulative Monstrosities drew the Sea God’s Revenge and cast it to return Blightcaster and Minotaur Abomination to the hand of Favors from Nyx. Manipulative Monstrosities got to Scry 1 from Sea God’s Revenge and decided to put the Mountain on the bottom of the library. Then Manipulative Monstrosities attacked with the Cyclops.

Turn 12:

Favors from Nyx drew Traveling Philosopher and cast Minotaur Abomination and the Philosopher. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Disperse and used it to put the Minotaur back in the hand. Then cast Lightning Strike on Traveling Philosopher to kill it and attacked with the Cyclops.

Turn 13:

Favors from the Nyx drew an Erebos’s Emissary and cast the Minotaur. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Island and played it.

Turn 14:

Favors from Nyx drew a Pillarfield Ox and cast Erebos’s Emissary as an enchantment on the Minotaur and attacked. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked with the Cyclops. Manipulative Monstrosities drew another Ill-Tempered Cyclops and cast it.

Turn 15:

Favors from Nyx drew a Plains and played it then cast the Ox and Blightcaster and attacked with the Minotaur. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked with the Cyclops. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a land and conceded.
