Favors from Nyx vs. Manipulative Monstrosities Game 3

I decided to make a new series to find the best Intro Deck for each release. This will help new players get the best Intro Deck for them if they want to play something like Friday Night Magic but do not know how to build a deck. What I did was put all the decks on MTG Deck Builder and then play tested them. I will play a best out of five series for each match up. In the end the deck that has the greatest percentage of victory will be the best. The first match up is Favors from Nyx and Manipulative Monstrosities.

Favors from Nyx drew an opening hand of 2 Plains, Swamp, Pillarfield Ox, Pharika’s Cure, Gift of Immortality, and Lagonna-Band Elder and decided to keep it. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an opening hand of 2 Mountain, Ill-Tempered Cyclops, Coral Merfolk, Wall of Frost, Archaeomancer, and Water Servant and kept it. Favors from Nyx won the roll and decided to go first.

Turn 1:

Favors from Nyx played a Plains. Manipulative Monstrosities drew and played a Mountain.

Turn 2:

Favors from Nyx drew an Erebos’s Emissary and played a Swamp. Manipulative Monstrosities drew and played another Mountain.

Turn 3:

Favors from Nyx drew a Swamp and played it. Then, cast a Lagonna-Band Elder. Manipulative Monstrosities drew and played an Island then cast Coral Merfolk.

Turn 4:

Favors from Nyx drew a Vanquished the Foul and played a Plains. Then, Favors from Nyx cast an Erebos’s Emissary. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Shipbreaker Kraken and played a Mountain then cast the Ill-Tempered Cyclops.

Turn 5:

Favors from Nyx drew and played a Swamp. Then, cast Gift of Immortality onto Erebos’s Emissary and attacked. Manipulative Monstrosities didn’t block so Favors from Nyx discarded Pillarfield Ox to give Erebos’s Emissary +2/+2 and Manipulative Monstrosities took 5. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Island and played it then cast Wall of Frost.

Turn 6:

Favors from Nyx drew a Swamp and played it. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Burnished Hart and played a Mountain. Tapping all six lands Manipulative Monstrosities cast Shipbreaker Kraken.

Turn 7:

Favors from Nyx drew and cast a Plains then cast Vanquish the Foul on Shipbreaker Kraken. Favors from Nyx Scryed a Plains and put it on the bottom of the library. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Island and played it. Manipulative Monstrosities paid 6 mana to use Ill-Tempered Cyclops’s Monstrosity trigger and attacked with it. Favors from Nyx blocked it with Erebos’s Emissary. At the beginning of the End Step Gift of Immortality came back onto the Emissary.

Turn 8:

Favors from Nyx drew and played Vanquish the Foul on Ill-Tempered Cyclops. Favors from Nyx Scryed Traveling Philosopher and put it on the bottom of the library. Manipulative Monstrosities drew and played a Mountain then cast Burnished Hart and used its ability to search for a Mountain and an Island.

Turn 9:

Favors from Nyx drew and played a Plains then cast Pharika’s Cure on Coral Merfolk and attacked with both creatures. Manipulative Monstrosities blocked Erebos’s Emissary with Wall of Frost. Manipulative Monstrosities drew a Stoneshock Giant and played it with Water Servant.

Turn 10:

Favors from Nyx drew and cast Lagonna-Band Elder to gain 3 life. Manipulative Monstrosities drew Lightning Strike and played 8 mana to make Stoneshock Giant monstrous. Manipulative Monstrosities payed 2 mana to use Water Servant’s ability twice to give him +2/-2. Manipulative Monstrosities then attacked with both creatures for a total of 13 damage. Favors from Nyx could not block because of Stoneshock Giant becoming monstrous.

Turn 11:

Favors from Nyx drew Ordeal of Erebos. Manipulative Monstrosities drew an Ill-Tempered Cyclops and cast Lightning Strike on a Band Elder then cast Archaeomancer to get back Lightning Strike. Manipulative Monstrosities then cast Lightning Strike again to remove the other Band Elder. Manipulative Monstrosities attacked with both creatures giving Water Servant the same bonus as last turn with the last 2 mana. Favors from Nyx blocked Stoneshock Giant with Erebos’s Emissary and took 5 damage from the Servant. At the beginning of the End Step Gift of Immortality goes back to Erebos’s Emissary.

Turn 12:

Favors from Nyx drew a Plains and conceded.

Game 3 goes to Manipulative Monstrosities
