Top 12 of 2012

Here are the best 12 cards that came out in 2012, ranging from the release of Dark Ascension to Return to Ravnica.

12. Chaos Imps
Chaos Imps
Who doesn't like a 7/6 flying Imp with trample even if it can't block? Even if you don't Unleash, it is still an impressive 6/5. Good in Rakdos decks, this card has a converted mana cost of 6, so on your 7th turn you can attack with a 7/6. Seven turns will allow some good defenders, but a 7/6 will kill most creatures.

11. Mana Bloom
Mana Bloom
Mana Bloom allows you to use one extra mana every turn. Plus, when the mana runs out you can reuse it. The non variable mana cost is not high, so you can use a lot of mana for charge counters.

10. Growing Ranks
Growing Ranks
Populating is great, but populating every turn is better. And Growing Ranks allows you to do just that. Just think, you have a Trostani, a Growing Ranks, and a 8/8 elemental token. Every turn you get a new 8/8 and 8 life thanks to Trostani's ability to gain life equal to a creature's toughness when it comes into the battlefield under your control.

9. Search the City
Search the City
There aren't many cards that allow you to take a extra turn, but this is one of them. All you have to do is play a copy of five cards that you exile of the top of your deck. This could be impossible if you exile a card of which you only have one. But if you exile a bunch of lands, then-perfect-you will probably get a extra turn.

8. Loxodon Smiter
Loxodon Smiter
Three mana 4/4s are great,  but three mana 4/4s that can't be countered are even better. Better then that, Loxodon Smiter can't be discarded by a spell or ability an opponent controls. Loxodon Smiter is a solid card in any Selesnya deck.

7. Drogskol Reaver
Drogskol Reaver
Flying, double strike, lifelink, and the ability to draw a card when you gain life make for a solid card. The seven mana Drogskol Reaver has all of those abilities. Gaining six life whenever he attacks is great, and he also lets you draw 6 cards when you attack with him.

6. Akroma's Memorial
Akroma's Memorial
This card lets all of your creatures have all the abilities Akroma Angle of Wrath has. And, being a artifact, you can play it in any deck. However, you might not want to play it in a black or red deck because you wouldn't be able to cast spells to boost them up.

5. Infinite Reflection
Infinite Reflection
Infinite Reflection makes it so that all non token creatures you control are a copy of that creature. Say you played it on a Avacyn. You would then have a army of 8/8s with flying and vigilance.

4. Gisela, Blade of Goldnight
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight
With a 5/5 creature with flying and first strike on your side, you are a formidable opponent. But Gisela will make it so you take less damage and opponents take more. So, while you are still loosing life, you loose less life and your opponent takes double the damage.

3. Azor's Elocutors
Azor's Elocutors
Few cards let you win the game just like that, but Azor's Elocutors lets you do so quickly. All you have to do is have five upkeeps while they are in the game and have no source deal damage to you for those five turns and you win. Also, it is a strong defender with its 5 toughness.

2. Trostani Selesnya's Voice
 Trostani, Selesnya's Voice
This Guild leader has everything. It has a good power and toughness, so it can attack and block. She can populate every turn for almost no mana cost. But mostly, whenever you get a new creature you gain life equal to it's toughness.

1. Avacyn Angel of Hope
Avacyn, Angel of Hope
Want an army that is totally indestructible? Just play an Avacyn. She is a 8/8 with flying and vigilance, but I think the best part of this card is the fact that she is indestructible and every permanent you control is too. Avacyn is ready for Griselbrand and can easily win a match for you.
